J pup mix up
 

Does anyone have experience mixing J pups for different sounds and a good mix? For instance, a Model J in the neck and an Ultra Jazz in the bridge? I want a variety of tonal options between the two.

What you have to worry about is if the two pickups are reverse wound and reverse polarity from each other. If not you will be out of phase and will have a noisy bad sounding bass.

Since you are talking about two Dimarzio pickups, it will probably work just fine, you may have one pickup that is hotter than the other one if you are running them soloed though. This could cause slight stage volume issues if you are a knob tweaker like I am.
