J Retro install on jazz...please help

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, so I just picked up the J Retro and am ready to install it in my Geddy jazz.
The instructions require that I connect the white and black (ground) from each pickup to the retro connectors. Currently, there are maybe 4 grounds connected to a screw on the plate in the cavity. My question is, should I remove that particular screw (it has a tab with maybe 4 black wires soldered to it) cut or unsolder the 2 pickup grounds, then connect those with the 2 white pickup (hot) wires TO the J Retro?

Any thoughts or experience with the install would be appreciated!

My J-retro has a screw in attachment for the pickup wires.

I put the j-retor in this bass here ...

I am very happy with the sound.

There are 2 different j-retros out there ... one has to be screwed and has to be soldered.

Cool bass Ric5,
The retro I have is the new one with the screw in type connectors. I was just confused when I saw all the grounds soldered to the bottom metal cavity plate. Should I cut the 2 pickup grounds off that and then run them to the connectors?
thanks!
