Sign in to disble this ad
whats up. im pretty new to the idea of active eletronics in my bass, but ive been messing with some active basses and i think i want to go for it.
i have a geddy jazz with dimarzio model Js in it, wired in series/parallel. i dont know much about these two preamps, but someone from bestbassgear.com told me these were the two best to go for with my current set-up. i was hoping you guys could give me some advice as to the different sounds, tone shaping, and the range of these, also their versitility or anything else.
if anybody out there has a similar set-up experiance, id love to hear about it!! thanks a lot

Gotta ask - what kind enhancement in the sound using an onboard preamp over the passive are you liking?

I use the Model J's and they def don't need any boost for output. I do have one with the option of Series/Parallel toggles on each pickup. Have another that in addition to the toggle for each pickup it also has a switch for Series/Parallel combining of the 2 pickups. Tons of variations there from full range in parallel to a mid strong and punchy in series. Thought about going active - but couldn't be bothered.
