Jack issue?

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a Schecter Omen 5 from a friend about a month ago. She said she had just put a new jack in it, so everything should be good with it. A couple of days ago, I plugged it up and wasn't getting sound out of it, but it I moved it around I could get a sound out of it. Yesterday, the sound started being more fuzzy. I replaced the battery, hoping that the battery was just wearing out (there are EMG actives in it), but now I can't get it to function at all.

A) How can I be sure it's a jack issue?

B) If it isn't what could it be?

C) How do I go about fixing the problem?

A) check wiring inside the bass or replace jack is not really expensive
B) wiring, cable, amp
C) replace the jack or faulty cable or wiring, if the problem is the amp take it to a music store or buy another

I have almost the same problem as you couple of weeks ago.

My warwick have active EMGs in it. I can get sound to come on for several minute before everything cut off.

I try everything i could to make sure it is not the bass first.

- It could be a faulty cable so try a different one
- Could be a faulty amp so try a different bass in the amp to make sure everything works
- If everything works but not your bass then it could be the jack on your bass or so kind of wiring issue in your bass

Old thred, I know, but I just bought a schecter elite 4 and im getting the same issues - plays just fine then gets all mushy and garbled then it comes right back after about 30 seconds and just keeps on like this.

Its not the amp - I have 2 and its the same on both and in headphones.

did any of you resolve your issues?

As with everything input jacks require maintenance. I regularly clean them. Especially the area that actually contacts gets corroded and that's usually the culprit - at least in all my cases.
