Thumbs up Jag Plate Jazz Mod!

Sign in to disble this ad
I just finished wiring up a Jaguar style 3 switch plate next to the control plate on my seafoam jazz and I couldn't be happier. It even still has that sort of vintage "could have been stock" look imo

The bass has a set of Dimarzio ultra jazzes in it and the switches go from left to right: a cap selector between .1 and .047mfd, a series/parallel for the bridge pup, and a series parallel for the neck pup.

I don't think I've seen anybody do this before, and felt like sharing. I'm one happy camper

It looks great. Excuse my ignorance but what does this do?

That's an awesome idea, and it looks pretty good too. Did you just do a top route to install it?

Thanks for the kind words fellas. Yeah its just a top rout with a hole connecting to the main control plate. I have both the pickups running directly to the switches then an output from each going to a blend pot and from there the normal route.

I'm telling ya with these pickups series/parallel really opens up the sound for fingerstlye. and along with the cap switch, it can go from silky beef, to cougar with a saw growly and everywhere in between. I definitely definitely recommend

Series/Parallel - Neck Pup
Series/Parallel - Bridge Pup
Cap switch (changes the tone cap that's used)
[he says in the OP ]

I like the concept! Out of interest, why didn't you use one of the switches for series-parallel between the pickups? I have a similar setup on a PJ bass (granted, just toggles, not a nice plate like that) and being able to switch it so the pickups are in series with each other certainly gave a much different sound!

Interesting, but why not just use push/pull switches?

That's what I was thinking too.

I also would have put the plate in the pick guard area.

But it looks kind of cool there.
