Jaguar Bass - Active Circuit Board -

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently my jaguar received a bit of impact at a show which pushed the active/passive switch completely into the guitar.

After replacing the switch, it only runs passive, so im guessing the circuit board needs to be replaced.

fender has them for $80. I was wondering if anyone knew where i can get one for much less, or if there are any other options?

If I have to spend 80, i wouldnt mind buying new active pickups altogether because im not crazy about the stock. However, would i need to replace the circuit board regardless of what pickups i choose? Are there "kits" that come with the wiring and battery harness? what should i do?

thanks!

Gosh, I would not spend $80 on this preamp if I were you! You can buy an Aguilar OBP-1 for that much used. It can be wired in active/passive, series/parallel, not quite sure if you can do the pickup on/off switches, but you can get a stacked pot and do a blend/tone pot. It is also a 2-band preamp. This way will not require any mods to your bass, and it will also sound great! I will probally end up doing this with my own jaguar. You can't run active pickups through the stock preamp, but you can run them through the Aguilar.

that's a rather bad guess.

the circuitboard is nowhere near the active/passive switch, so why would it need to be replaced?

i'd bet that the new switch is either wired wrong or itself bad.

Unless the impact hit more than just the switches area. It could be the board but could also be the switch

Yes. I believe the preamp is in a separate cavity under the strings so it's probably OK. Seriously - give it to a techie - in 60 seconds with a multimeter they will be able to tell you where the problem is (... or buy yourself a multimeter and do yourself). If it's a switch it's a $5 problem.

When you say it only runs passive are you saying that when you switch to active there's no sound?
