Jaguar bass went nuts... replaced a pot, advice?

Two issues here. We were playing live and the volume pot, which I never used and is actually gaffer's taped down, started cutting out. Any time it got bumped, even from the vibration of the strings, it'd cut out and back. I went to get new parts for it, but they wanted an outrageous price. I came home and checked my parts box.

I just wired in a full-sized 500k pot in the place of the original 250k Japanese mini pot. I don't think the added highs will bother me, I might even like em, but switching to a mini pot works just fine, right? It fits in the control cavity.

Sounds fine. I trust you checked the other solder joints while you're in there, ya?

Even if you don't use the pots, you shouldn't tape them down. Give them a turn every so often to keep the contacts clean. if you leave them in one spot they can oxidize and start to get noisy or cut out.

Alternatively, you could just bypass the volume pot when re-wiring, and throw a 250k resistor in its place.
