Jaguar Pickup Replacement - Damarzio Ultra Jazz????

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys.

I'm looking to upgrade the pickups in my Jag from stock to possibly the Damarzio Ultra Jazzes.

Any ideas? Comments? ETC

Also, are they gonna be a simple swap over, i.e are the stock pickups standard 4 wire etc.

Looking to use as main for my band below.

Sorry to be brief, in work

Thanks guys.

It is still middle of the day here in the US. Wait until this evening when people get home from their day jobs. Someone will likely help you out. I still have the stock pups in mine...

As I am gassing for a Jag myself, I'll give you a bump.

Yes, everyone will be along momentarily to recommend their favorites....IMO the UltraJazzes would be a fine choice. Should be an easy swap.

Have you considered DiMarzio Model J's as well? Depending on what sound you want to achieve, they could also be your ticket.

I did consider them, what kind of stuff do you play, how are they working out for you/

Thanks

What kind of sound are you trying to get... With all the options you have in the Jaguar it's probably a knob and a switch away, unless you are playing in passive mode and are unhappy with the tone (too bright, too dark, muddy, clean)?

Just because your pickups are stock doesn't mean they are bad.

well recently ive been playing with more distortion due to becoming less and less impressed with clean sound against it. I love the tone but it just needs a bit more the sound iss quite weak, I play active all the time. From what i have gathered these pickups should help with this.

Have you gotten the pickups adjusted as close to the strings as possible? Aside from that, as a proud Jag owner, I really don't see a need to ever swap out the stock pickups for another Jazz-type pup. Mess with the switches and knobs more.

The Jag absolutely does not have weak output, unless you have an electrical issue (in which case new pups still aren't the answer).

Yeah, I play my Jag in passive mode all the time and the output is still hotter than a normal jazz.

I have Lindy Fralin on mine and it was easy swap and output is so hot that I have to keep my volume on about half way all the time
