Janktone and Varitone

I'm acquiring a used standard Jazz bass today. The guy I'm getting it from is the owner of Janktone and this is one if his demo models. He also installed a Varitone. Having tried neither of these, I was curious if anyone had experiences they could share. I'm not sure what to expect, although something tells me I'll be swapping out the electronics very quickly.

I'd hold fire till you try it. According to his website, the controls are changed to Master Vol, Pan & Tone, and if the Tone is a Varitone (a *proper* one with an inductor & not just a 5 or 6 position capacitor selector) then it could be interesting.

Varitone's are great! There are definitely more sounds available than with a standard tone control. I built an outboard Varitone box for all of my passive basses to share. There are some soundclips as well:

Sorry, I just realized it's a Stellartone, not a Varitone.

Anyway, I brought it home and I'm pretty impressed. When I get more used to it, I'll post some soundclips.
