FWIW:

Never had any but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy some at the right price. I can tell you they rarely show used - so either few are sold, or guys either keep ‘em or throw ‘em in the trash cause they don’t resale them.

I have 2 sets of Lollar singles and wouldn't part with them for gold,,,

One set in a fretless frankenjazz (blueburst maple mighty mite body, Warmoth maple neck, ebony board, stack knobs, hipshot B style bridge), the other in a modified Marcus Miller (no onboard pre, vvt, strings thru or top load Fender Amer deluxe bridge, tone bypass knob).

I love them, the treble response seems a bit softer to me than some other things I've tried and or owned (lindy fralins for example seem to be to "hot" for my tastes, they seemed to always take everyone's head off with treble if that makes any sense)...

Try some!

I have only heard the Lollar P pickup and some stratocaster pickups. They sound a lot like fralin, but they have a bit more dynamic and bite to them....really nice pu's!

NJ4s seems to be a bit more "polite" than Lollars J IMO.

I have a set of both and ended up using Nords. I think I like it more cause of the great balance they have.

It is like I'm using the best compressor ever!

It depends on what kind of wood, strings etc… but Nords have the best of both worlds, it is a vintage sounding PU, very, very warm but with some "modern" features.

Lollar is also very warm, more "vintage" in some aspects and I wouldn't sell or trade it for nothing.

Maybe I'd buy another J.

Of course they're two great sounding PUs and differences are just a matter of splitting hairs.

I also have a set of Lollars on a Tele (guitar) and it sounds amazing.

+1, I'm starting to dig the NJ4s. They have a very clean, articulate, modern top end and fat, thick, warm, and old school lows and low mids. It's an interesting sound. I suspect the Lollars are a little grindier and more raw in the high mids and highs.

Yep NJ4 and Lollar are winners! And I'm a happy owner of both!
