Jazz Bass-Active PUPs?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an all stock Fender Deluxe Active Jazz (MIM) and was wondering whether the pickups themselves are 'active' or is it just the electronic scheme cause I realized they really aren't that hot of pups in the first place, I don't even have to pad the input with the -15db. I was also wondering if they work similar to passive setups in the respect that they generally sound well with volume on 100%.

I'm pretty sure the pickups themselves are passive.

so i'd be 'fine' going with volume 100%, it's obviously a big preference thing but I know some are opposed to boosting active electronics up all the way, but since the pups themsleves are passive is that the same thing?

It's a personal preference. I don't think it would make a difference if the volume is at 100% or not, since it is active electronics. There is talk that there is a difference in tone when volume is not at 100% on Passive electronics.
