Jazz bass bridge pickup ?

Can someone tell me the measurement of the jazz bass bridge pickup,on early and later basses,measurement taken from the end of the bridge to the back of the pickup cover(nearest the bridge)i know there are changes, but would like to know what these are,thanks.

FWIW:

Pups aren't measured from the bridge since bridges vary but from the nut or 12th fret which are constants for a given scale. Given the assumption you're talking about Fender, 60's are 31 1/2" from center of nut to center of pup and '72/later 31 7/8".

I didn't know where the measurements were taken from really,but you have cleared that up,thanks,people say that it can change the tone of a jazz bass quite alot,so that was my interest in the placement,cheers.

FWIW:

I can place pups anywhere I want in my basses and it takes at least about a J pup width (3/4") for me to distinguish movement. Changing the pickup at the same location is a different story. So the 60's/70's difference to me is a hyped thing. My guess is for every person who talks about location variation you'll find 999 guys who've read about it and 1 guy that's actually done it and experienced it first hand.
