I bought a RW Jazz a couple of weeks ago. I've gigged with it at three different locations so far. Two times through amps and once through a DI straight to FOH. This weekend I played going straight through a Sansamp BDDI to the house where I stand near a self powered array with a sub and two satellite speakers. There are lots of LED strip lights and overhead lighting arrays, with lots of electrical noise. I play there frequently with different basses, both passive and active, and I often have difficulty with low frequency noise in that room but today there was a high pitched noise that was really piercing and the sound guy couldn't successfully notch it out. It was definitely my bass and not some other piece of gear. I had to roll off the tone completely to eliminate it. I was running both pups full volume. Rolling off volume on one of the PUPs made the problem worse. If I turned facing the self powered array the noise would go away so that was where my bass was picking it up. I can't face that direction when I play and I can't move much to get away.
The other two places I played I only experienced low frequency hum when I rolled off the neck PUP which was expected. All three locations were commercial buildings with lots of electrical sources around me.
I shielded this bass right after I purchased it and that mostly eliminated the typical hum and RF the noise that I was getting in it's stock form.
I've never had to deal with a high frequency noise source from a bass before.
Does anyone have any suggestions given that it is already shielded and I was running the volumes even. I don't like playing with my tone rolled off completely. I love the way this bass sounds and it feels wonderful so I don't want to change anything about it. If there is a relatively inexpensive pedal that can do a narrow frequency notch I could add it to my board for this venue.
The frequency of the noise about matched the ringing in my ears but louder
