Jazz Bass hot signal

Sign in to disble this ad
Just bought a new Highway 1 jazz and love the sound I can get out of it. However I did notice that when both volume knobs are turned up all the way the natural output of the bass is very hot to the point of a mild overdriven sound. If I turn down each knob about a quarter of the way I get the perfect tone. I like a pretty even mix of bridge/neck PU for most of what I do so on every previous bass Ive had I just got in the habit of cranking volume knobs all the way up. I tried using the pad on my amp and bypassing my effect board neither solved the problem. Id like to avoid lowering the pickups, I did slightly and lost some tone.

Has anyone had this issue/done anything to fix it?

Guess you get used to 3/4 throttle.

I just had to say it!
