Jazz bass with a J bridge and SCPB neck pickup?

Sign in to disble this ad
aka: Is the placement of the neck pickup the same for the jazz pickup and as well as the traditional placement of a 51 Pbass pickup (SCPB)? Or would a bass have to be routed differently to swap the pickups? I like PJ basses, but have recently been impressed by the sound of the SCPB pickups. I blame stflbn for that.

I wouldn't worry as much about the humcancelling properties. I am going with a dualcoil J bridge pickup.

Yeah, but won't the SCPB buzz?

no more than a regular 51 pbass with a single SCPB. Or there are humcancelling versions. I just took a pic of a Sting PBass and a Jazz bass. Once I got the frets to line up, it appeard that the SCPB pickup was maybe 1/2" closer to the neck than the jazz neck pickup. Does that sound right?
