ah hello again. I'm feeling this post is not so necessary now as it appears you have deduced the problem. The dude probably hammered the 2 middle pole sets down.

Anybody? The guy I bought them from said they came that way when he bought it. They came from an MIJ 62. Is it something I should try and fix ie move them up?

Just a guess...is it possible it's a raised A and D pole pickup that is upside down? If it's older MIJ who knows the construction process used.

There would be no place for the wire leads to exit when the cover was on...

What i mean is that the leads are connected to the bottom bobbin, so if you were to put the pickup in upside down, the leads would not be able to exit.
The idea that they were flipped upside down is not plausible given the above.

My Antiquity pickup had a loose enough fitting cover, that the cover would fall right off if you turned the pickup upside down.
The cover should not have any sort of glue in it.

Ya, it was like that...before I super glued it. roffles. I could take the leads and drill a hole on the other end and send them down that way couldn't I?

I don't see any problem in doing that.

I am not sure if there would be any problems with the pickup being upside down or not.
It would seem ok, but maybe someone with more experience with pickup magnetism and such can chime in?

appears to be possible if I switch the leads? So I would solder white to ground and black to pickup I guess?

I would also have to flip it too maybe?

I'm wondering if maybe these pickups are just supposed to be like this.....they aren't antiquities they came off a 62 Japan RI jazz.
