Jazz PU's replacement for a Fender Jazz Bass Plus

Hi!

I own a USA Jazz Bass Plus '94 with the Lace Sensor pickups, and I do like the sound of it, but I'd like to try something new. What advice could you give me?

Should I just change the pickups, or also the active preamp?

so it has that weird kubicki concentric knob preamp and the two pickups that are the same size?

if so, were it mine i'd ditch all of it

i'm not sure if replacement pickguards would fit, but if they did i'd get one, so that i could use a normal-sized set of jazz pickups.

What kind of sound are you after and what kind of money are you looking to spend?

If you're just looking to try something different just because I would watch the classifieds and but some different pickups and maybe a different preamp. If you have a specific sound in mind there is a lot of experience and info in these forums.
