Ok, heres my question

I just found out my bass uses a battery, and i was just wondering...What happens when my battery runs out?
Is it a special type of battery? What exactly does the battery power/do?

When the battery runs low, the bass will start to distort, then cease to put out sound all together. The battery runs the onboard active preamp. The battery is just your average 9 volt battery. What kind of bass is it?

P.s. leave your bass unplugged when you are not playing it.

If you leave it plugged in, it will drain the battery even though it´s not being used.

Along with Davey's q, does this mean the pickups are active?

It means either the pickups are active, or if there is a preamp (chipboard underneath the backplate), the battery is powering that.

So, no preamp = active pickups.

ok, another noob q, can u have active pickups with a preamp?, would this then eman you have 2 batteries or just change batteries more often?

usually when a bass has two batteries it means that it has an 18v preamp (9v+9v=18v).
