they are a drop in swap

I have them in one of mine, and I upgraded the controls to a Nordstrand passive/active preamp. It is the best of both worlds. The sound is better than some of my more expensive basses. I really wish I had the same combo in a 5er

Very well - I used to run UJ pups in a Squier VMJ with a series/parallel switch(same thing as the S-1), and they sounded great in series...

Can't blame you. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Same can be said for anyone putting aftermarket pups in their MIA fender

I picked up a set of ultras and had them installed in my active fender jazz 24 today. Still has the stock preamp, though. They are indeed some beefcake pickups. I've got nordstrands in another passive jazz, and these ultras are quite different.

I've been looking to replace the pups in my Jazz 24 for some time, and these pups are a prime contender. Were they a drop-in replacement for the Seymours, or was there any modification required? For me, the Seymours are too ganky and aggressive, and I was looking for a pup set that would give me smoother upper mids and sweeter highs. Do these pups accomplish that? And one more: Are the pole pieces radiused, or are they flush (or pretty close to it) with the casing? I tend to bash strings into pole pieces if they stick up too far. Thanks!

I tried PMing Jonk10, since he has ultras in a Jaguar. But his inbox is full....

I'm trying to wire up some Dimarzio Ultra jazz pickups into a MIJ Fender Jaguar bass.

I soldered the black and whites together as stated in the Dimarzio directions (to achieve independent series wiring of each pickup) and then "copied" the wiring for the green and red from the previous pickups.

Currently I am getting NO sound. I'm not very knowledgeable with pickups. Please help!

I put some UJ pickups in my Jaco sig fretless. They said I was mad but the thing sounds amazing now. Fantastic value for money and no more hum.

Hey thanks guys! sorry I didn't reply sooner. It turns out, i did everything correct, but since there are so many wires inside a Jaguar, i didn't notice that the blue mainline form the master volume to the pickups switches had broken off from all my fiddling. Re-soldered it with more solder and its all good now.

Sound like Ultra's be what I was hoping they'd be.
A year or so back, my main fretted bass was a Lakland 55-01 that I put a set of Ultra Jazz pups in and an Audere pre. the bass was outstanding, and I got compliments regularly on how great my bass sounded out front, no amp, DI'ed, using IEMs.
