K value of Conklin 7 BDGT volume pot

Sign in to disble this ad
My volume pot is scratchy and the Bill Dickens 7 strings and needs replacement ,there is so many wires in the cavity that i can't see the value of the pot.
Also if you know of a place that would sell the parts i would greatly appreciate.
Francois
I tried Conklin but they were not sure and the Wesmere co. is like a wild goose chase.
I also could use the value of all the other pots the bass is getting old and between the salty air the humidity and the smokey clubs is just a matter of time for them to spit out the Cramoline.
Thanks
francois

"K" is a suffix for "*103," not a unit of measure. Pots are measured in Ohms.

It's rather uncommon for values and tapers to be stamped on the casings of pots. You will need an Ohm meter to identify the resistance and its taper, if it is not known.

Pots are common parts that should be available anywhere online.

Measure across the outer leads to obtain the resistance range. This may be +/- 20% of the pots rating.
Measure from either side to the center to get the taper. A linear taper will reach 50% of it's resistance range halfway through the rotation. An audio taper will reach 50% at around 4/5 of the rotation.

If memory serves, they were A250K pots.

that is a bartolini preamp.. you should call/email bartolini for a replacement pot..

i would first use some Caig DeOxit 5% in the weep hole on the back of the pot, and work the knob full sweep about 20-30 times and then see if the pot actually needs replacing..

I tried that,it worked in the past but not this time ,tropical weather is very harsh on electronics ,all the non US fender with cheap parts, behringer and other fails after 1 year of use down here.(98%humidity,coral dust, condensation, salty air....
All my equipment is in AC 24/7 but I still have a lot gigs outside
