I was reading Dimento's J bass shoot out, and noticed that the output was deemed low. But that review was a few years ago now

The same pickups are being advertised as 10k instead of 4.9K

http://www.guitarthings.co.uk/kent-a...ont-1102-p.asp

Have KA really upped the output by over double ? And if this is true, what would that do to some of the things Dimento said were lacking in the original review ?

This is some of what Dimento posted about them :

"2 wire w/ground singles (4.9K DC resistance)
The pups played passably to 95% of the tunes and better than average to most. 5% there just wasn't sufficient bass to compliment the rest of the tone I wanted. Pups could really use more flexibility on the low end. Volume, tone, clarity, and cut balanced acrossed the board for a given tone with the exceptions noted - when bass was lacking and getting growl to cut."

What does going from 4.9K to 10K do for a pickup ...is it just the same tone ( or lack of ) but at a higher volume, or would the pickup get back some missing low end, and other missing bits

There is no good way to know what has changed besides understanding the two constructions and how they compare, or hearing them A/B'd against each other in the same setup. It's unlikely the tone will be the same. Is it possible to get in contact with Kent?

I would guess that these are Korean - and yes i could email Kent. I've had cause to email him direct in the past and he's quite willing to speak to folk
