Cool Killer B Electronic Problem = please help :o

Sign in to disble this ad
I got a Tobias Killer B 4-string bass guitar and i have a problem with the single that comes out.
Every time i play with the mid, blend, bass and treble all opened the red "peak" light on my Ampeg Amp turns on -> so that i have to play on a very low Gain level.
The problem appears to be on any amp no matter what, and when i mid-open the bass, treble or mid its ok, but i want to be able to play on my guitar without start setting the sound every time.

With the passive mode i have no problems, and when the gain on the amp is low it's ok too but then the sound is not powerful and "fat" enough.

so i asked people and they said that the problem is in the guitar, and that the single is too powerful for the amp to handle, and they also said that in the bartolini preamp i'll see a little switch to control the gain, but when i opened the guitar i got lost.

this is the picture, I see 4 switches, and i dont really know what to do with what, so i'll thank anyone who will help me dealing with the problem, if it's connected to the gain or not.

please help :0

Why are you boosting all of the controls? Is the preamp cut/boost, or just boost?

Start with the preamp flat (Center Detent if it's Cut/Boost, All the way down if it's Boost only), and work from there. A little goes a long way.

It's an 18V preamp, you're just adding way too much boost.

even when i don't boost them i got problems with some amps so that the gain is to high and then i have to put it really low on the amp. and when i use, for example, a Fuzz effect, no matter how low the gain on the fuzz is, i hear noises that sound like treble's too high or something, while treble's on 0, on the guitar and on the ampeg.

I have a Tobias Classic 5 w/18 volt pre-amp.
The signal is very hot and I cannot run every control full up
without clipping the amp.
Follow TrooperFarva's advice on the controls and you'll be OK.
Also I rarely run the Volume more than half.
