Klira Violin Bass pups, etc needed...

Sign in to disble this ad
I do hope that I'm making this overture correctly and in the proper forum, but I am looking for parts (pups, bridge, electronics) to restore my mid 1960's Klira. It is in VERY POOR condition, having been butchered back in the 1970's. I'm not sure of the model number and there are no marking's on the headstock, but the saddle is marked "Klira" and "Made in Germany" (I would have guessed it to say "West Germany" but it does not).

If anyone knows of a good source for parts, I would appreciate your help greatly.

That might be difficult. Sometimes the basses pop up on eBay, but I've never seen just the parts for sale.

Does the bass have two "cat's eye" F-holes? It may be a Twen-Star. These are great basses. They were made right down the street from Hofner, and used some of the same parts. If you can't find the parts you need, maybe Hofner parts will fit. This would be a lot more expensive though.

If you like the bass alot, another option may be to buy another one. You can get them on eBay for $450-$600, depending on the condition.

Thanks for your reply and for the link. Yes, mine has the "cat's eye" F-holes and is exactly like the one pictured, with the excpetion of the headstock; mind has no logo or badge of anykind (looks like there may have been one there at one point, as there are multiple scratches there..)

I'll check out the Hofner pieces to see if they will fit. Thank you again for your kind help.

No problem. Glad to help out. A good source for Hofner parts: http://www.voxshowroom.com/northcoast/index.html But from what I can tell, it doesn't look like the pups or bridge would fit. It might be worth contacting them though.

Parts help/ advice

I, too have a 60's Klira violin knock off thats in pretty bad shape. I'd like to find a pick-up set, or get some recommendations as to what may be a sutable replacement pair. Also need a lower bridge assy.
