knob issue

Hello all, first post here unfortunately..i just bought a new bass and it has two knobs, neither of which do anything. i took it apart and there were a few wiring issues with broken solder joints, but even after i replaced the wiring, there still isnt any change by turning either knob. One thing i did notice that i thought was odd is there is a wire going from 1 pot to the other, top to top. yet the wiring doesnt go anywhere else... could this be the problem?

Sounds like those are probably the tying the cases of the pots together to ensure common grounding.

i redid the wiring from scratch and i can hear a slight change, but now when i touch one of the knobs it gets staticy

i have nothing constructive to add.

but every time i see the "Knob Issue" thread pop up on the home page it makes me giggle like a little schoolgirl.
