KSD Pick Up Replacements????

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone replaced the pups in their KSDj705 bass? I am looking for something that will drop in without any routing or modding.

Thanks...

I would think any J5 pickup, such as Ultra Jazz 5's or Nordstrand NJ5's would work. Fralins even.

Jeesh you could put an Audere on there too with no problems. The KSD line is on my gas list, but the electronics on them have to go so I looked into this. Thats just my suggestion.

I've heard the active electronics on the J705 is limiting and not-to-good sounding. You might want to just jump on the Audere and see if that improves things.

Thanks Joel...I am going to measure to see if they will fit. I am thinking I will need to 3.73's.

I must say that I really don't have any complaints on the tone and noise that some have noted. I have been looking at the Audere and I think I am going to do that first with the stock pups and see what I get.

Do you like the Ultra J's???

Just wanted to follow up on the search for replacement pups for my KSDj705 bass. After many hours of research, and little help from Brooklyn Gear , I called Best Bass Gear. Brian helped me find what would fit. Brian is a great guy. Even followed up to see how things went.

I ended up getting two Bart 59CBJD neck pick ups. Both the neck and bridge pups on the KSD are the same size. I had to do some slight routing for the screw towers, but outside of that they dropped in.

They sound great along with the Audere pre. I still have a little shielding to do because these pups a quite a bit hotter, but once the shielding tape arrives, it should only take a few minutes.

I just wanted to follow up since I know a lot of the KSD users are looking for something.

I can't recommend the Audere enough. That is the single best change I have ever made to any bass. And the support from Audere is excellent.

Sounds great! It's hard to believe, but just running everything flat sounds awsome. I guess that's the way it's supposed to work. Who knew???

I like running the Zmode Low on the neck, and High on the bridge. Then I roll the blend a little to the bridge and she really starts to growl without losing the bottom. Sweet!!!

The Barts have the natural mid range I like so it is a perfect combination.
