Kudos to Mr East

I am the owner of an RBass (I have posted pics on the relevant RBass fans thread) that has a Deluxe East preamp (not the latest model but the one before) . The bass is great so is the pre-amp, but i had no choice over the blend control in the passive mode (only both or bridge pickup). In order to be objective over both the pickups and the preamp I needed to change the wiring of the pickups to the pre-amp. The East preamp is a great preamp that all people can place but not many can temper (and my idea of objectivity and freedom was shouting "temper"!!! )

I contacted Mr East and he was more than helpful to inform me over the different connections that needed to be performed to achieve the desired results. In fact he asked me to ship him the preamp and perform the connections himself free of charge. I am the understanding kind (when it comes to realizing what is easy and what is not) so I asked him if it would be possible to have the latest preamp with the switches and everything soldered and he was happy to perform the task for me (even though his schedule is very busy lately).

So in less than a week he did all the work and had the preamp, switches and pots, all delivered to me, along with idiot-proof wiring diagrams . The preamp will be installed on Saturday morning and I will be able to fully evaluate every possibility of both the pickups and the preamp in the most objective (subjective ???) way.

It's nice to be able to contact those who create sth special and to get the best help possible

John East's products are as good as it gets. (setting aside
personal preference) The bonus is that John is as great a
guy to deal with as you'll ever find. He's a real sweetheart.

Pre-amp was installed this morning. The technician needed to solder only 3 times for each pick up; the rest were all wired up in the most professional way with color codes and explanations for everything. Idiot-proof really!!! Plus all mods work as I asked for. Initial thoughts "transparent, smooth".

I will evaluate the pre-amp tomorrow. More to follow on Monday
