Lace Sensor J-Bass pickups

Has anyone here ever used Lace Sensor J-Bass pickups?

I've used Fender Lace Sensor pickups in my Stratocasters for years and always loved the tone, but never had a chance to try them out on bass. Any experiences/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

They're stock in my Jazz Bass Plus and I think they're excellent.

When I had basses with the Lace Sensor pickups (I've had Jazz 5 plus, Jazz plus and a P-Bass plus Deluxe) I really liked the sound. They sound (to me) like a warmer EMG clean, clear but not too HiFi. (YMMV)

I'm sure the Pre amp added to the sound but on the Jazz Bass Plus you had a position that by passed the pre for a passive sound.

They came with a bass I bought and sounded great.
They do not have much output without a pre though, and with some amps, may not have enough output to clip the front of the amp
Called the factory and they said that they had no record of lossing output due to magnets and the DC resitance was right on spec; I used a compressor to boost the gain and all was well

Thanks for the feedback! I always loved how in my guitars the Lace Sensor single coils were silent (just as quiet as a humbucker somehow), yet really rich.

+1 here. I dig the harmonics I get from my 1992 P-Plus's bridge jazz pickup!

Yes, the Lace Sensors (Silver, in this case) have a lower output than regular Fender pickups, but they sit in the mix reeeealy fine! I have a booster in my board that I kick on when I'm using this bass.

I love my P-Plus. Great sounding pickups with absolutely NO noise!
