OK I love hows this bass plays but not much on the tone. But what really is the culprit? The pups or the pre? Or is it both. I really like how my PV Cirrus sound and I love the EMG DC's in my other basses. What would you all do to make this thing slay?

That pre sucks. Pickups are ok if bypass.
