Question Lakland 44-02 with Lakland LH3 and Barts

Hi!

I picked up a 44-02 "new" from a local store a month ago. I picked this particular one because it sounded really good and it was super light. When i got it home i later noticed that it had the bartolini pickups and is made in korea. Manufacturing date is pretty old too. Makes me wonder where a brand new bass that old comes from and ends up on my music store shelf. It's actually at the luthier now; 2 slightly high frets. It's pre-plek, as i discovered later. Pretty annoying because i was expecting all the basses to be new and pleked and i didnt inspect it as thoroughly as i should have. Anyway more importantly... when I opened the control cavity I saw that it had the lakland LH3 preamp.

I'm really happy with the tone in general but I was curious... Does anybody else have this Bart pickup/LH3 preamp combo? What do you think of it?
