Lakland 55-01 buzzing issues driving me crazy!

So my Lakland has been buzzing a lot lately. I know it's a grounding issue because when I have my hands on the strings the buzzing goes away.

I took it to a repair shop and all the tech could say was "you just have to keep your hands on the strings, there's nothing that I can do about it".

He also said it has to do with the fact that my Lakland has a "high output pre amp".

Not really sure that I buy it...I had a Spector with EMG's and that had a VERY hot pre amp, much hotter than the Lakland, and I never ever had buzzing issues.

So far my only workaround for this is running a filter in the signal chain which does clean up the buzz a bit. But I would much rather get this resolved for good.

Any feedback??

Probably could use a good shielding. Mine buzzes a little (not very loud) when I don't touch the strings. If it's a really loud buzzing, you definitely have a ground issue somewhere.

Good question!

I have a 55-01 with Glockenklang pre and Nordstrand big singles in it.

At my church, they are running some christmas lights on a dimmer on stage right now. When ever they hit that dimmer, the bass buzzes like a bee..... a big bee.

Single coil pickups, or split-able pups will "pick up" on some electric "noise", and basically amplify it. Nature of the beast.

I'd buy s roll of shielding tape and tape everything including under the bridge and pick guard. Second, I'd get a good power strip that filters out line noise. I've done this for my 62RI and it is DEAD quiet no mater what is gong on.

You'll want one that filters out EMI and RFI noise.

As far as I know, yes it is 100% stock.

I'm not the original owner but the person I got it from said it was bone stock.

The bass is from from 2001 I believe.

I'm going to try shielding tape and maybe a power strip.
