Question Lakland 55-02 DIP Switches

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all:
I just came home with my new/used Lakland 55-02. I'm looking for a PDF of the DIP switch settings. Can anyone help? Also (because I don't know how they are set right now) I'm trying to brighten up the sound a bit, any suggestions?

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
GassGhost

I sold my 55-02 a few months ago so I can't verify this, but I'm positive mine had a diagram either inside the control cavity or on the inside of the cover plate. There's nothing on yours?

Yeah, I suck, I know that. But at least I suck a little less than I did yesterday.

However, it will not help you brighten up the tone. The older Bart/Bart electronics in the original 55-02 and 55-94 basses sound punchy and warm, but quite mid rangey. The newer Lakland pickups/pre are quite a bit brighter, and capable of more sizzle if you want it.

Ken, just wondering why you wouldn't go with the 850 setting....would be even farther away, yes?

It's pretty subtle, but I found the 850 setting to start overlapping too much with the treble control, and cutting at 850 sucked the little bit of treble sheen that the Barts have right out. However, try both.. both are better than the default 500 setting IMO.

I guess I'm boosting, trying to get some upper mid grind in there.....it doesn't work BTW.

Boosting at 750 helps a little, but there is very little grind in those Barts. Quite frankly, I don't hear a lot of grind in the new Lakland pickups... wider, deeper, sizzlier, but still not grindy.

Time for a Jazz Bass
