Question Lakland with Bartolini pickups... soundclips?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been searching around the net for soundclips of a Lakland 44 or 55 series bass equipped with the Barts and NTMB preamp. I have the opportunity to trade my 55-02 for a 55-02D with maple fb (I prefer maple to rosewood), but I would be transitioning from the LH3 system to the Barts and want to hear the tone first. I've always enjoyed Modulus basses with Barts, so maybe the Lakland will follow suit? Not sure though because quite a few people have said they want to swap out their Barts for other pickups. If anyone has some clips or could record some it would help me a lot!!! Thanks

Thanks Pickles! The recordings sound great. The tone is actually pretty "aggressive" to my ears, moreso than "polite" anyways How versatile is Bart setup compared to the LH3? I can get so many sounds out of my current 55-02 and want to make sure I'll still have plenty of options with the Barts. Also, could you post a link to the clips you made with the Lakland pups (can't seem to find them)? Rock on

The preamp is basically the same, I never swapped mine out for the LH3. I just got the LH3 pickups and used them with the bart pre, Lakland recommended that (said the pickups were 95% of the new tone).

I never did any LH3 soundclips, and now I've got different strings and can't remember what the signal chain was, so it wouldn't be apples to apples.

IMO, the difference is not huge between the two. The barts are warmer and more polished, the Laklands are drier, quicker, and a little brighter overall with more 600-850hz instead of the thick 200-400hz on the barts...
