Lakland J bass Pickups (Hanson DB J-4)

*This is a re-posted thread (Hanson J Bass Pickups) as I dont think anyone knows that Lakland uses Hanson P/Us

Hey all,
Just picked myself up a Fender MIM 70s reissue J bass and it looks f-in amazing. Nice and vintage-y- however, its MIM. And I am looking for the right pickups to swap in there. Being heard in the mix is big for me, so I would like something with a good mid presence and plenty of punch.

From the sound clips I have heard online, I thought the Lakland J bass sound would be best for what I am looking for. Since I dont have 3 grand for a Lakland bass (or 1.5 for a skyline!), I was thinking of picking up the Hanson DB J-4 pickups (used in the lakland j bass). Has anyone done this with their J bass? Would you recommend this, or is the sound I am looking for unique to lakland basses only?

If so, any 70 RI owners have suggestions on a P/U swap?

The guitar has not arrived yet, but, since its MIM I am guessing the pickups wont be all that special... I guess I wont know till it arrives! CANT WAIT

Oh yeah... Its an alder body w/ rosewood fingerboard (white binding and perloid blocks... But I don't think that will make much of a difference).

also, I am somewhat concerned as to whether the 70s p/u spacing will sound good with p/u's meant for the 60s spacing
