Lakland LH-3 pre question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I am not sure if this has been covered or not, but i could not find the answer so i will ask people with more knowledge than me I just got a new (to me) LAkland 55-02 off of ebay. Well i sat down tonight and set it up and plugged it in. I noticed that the mid control changed the volume drastically if i boosted or cut but the highs and the lows did very little. the setting for the mids right now are ON,ON,OFF,OFF on the dip switches. I was playing though a small amp at a low volume but i thought that it seemed a bit odd that the mids with make that much of a difference when the others did not. Tomorrow i am going to turn up on my svt-4 but i could not try that this late.

thanks for any advice you can give.

Hey now J,

Yes the mids will play that big of a factor. Its been a few months since I had my 44-02 with the LH3 but I bel. the first 2 switches were 250hz and 400hz or something like that. That's a lot of oomph. Others may chime in but I would venture to say soo much oomph that it may over emphasize the mids and drown out the others.

Enjoy as they are nice basses.

I wondered if that is what it could be. I may adjust the mids so that is not low...thanks!

Hi Jeremy,

I just got my 55-02 as well, great bass! Well, I adjusted the mids to be centered at 1100Hz (the highest one). I just like to cut that frequency a little whenever I do slap, apart from that, I basically leave it flat.

I had a similar experience with my 55-02 on a small practice amp. Did it resolve itself on your bigger amp?

What's a good musical setting for the mid switch?
