Lakland Osborn / Fralin vs Fender custom shop

Hi , I have a nice early US Lakland JO with the original Fralins that it was born with .
I find that the Fralins on this this particular bass a little rough sounding or a bit raw&uneven on the upper end of the sound spectrum.
I have a set of Fender Custom 60's that I'm thinking of trying on this bass.
If anyone has any experience or advice that would be great ...
