Lakland P/U Settings

Sign in to disble this ad
Can someone please explain the knob adjustments and P/U configurations on this. It is mine and it is a USA with Lakland P/U's. I don't know if there is a similarity to P and J's or not and what the settings might be to go for those sounds. I don't have a clue. Any input is welcome.

http://www.lakland.com/tech-docs/lh3-controls.pdf

that should help, its a jazz neck pickup and a musicman style bridge pickup

thats interesting, the battery is usually located above the string ferrals in the back, i know that they used to keep it in the control box on earlier models, i wonder if it is an early model that had the pickups upgraded?

Let's talk about that switch --

The PDF you link to says that:

"In the 4-94 CD and 55-94 CD replaced with a single/humbucking selector"

I have a 4-94 and it is a three way switch - - which suggests it's coil tap on the humbucker (as show, neck/bridge/both)

does that sound right?

OK, it's reallly easy. The three-position switch selects which coil(s) of the MM style 'bucker are active. With the switch towards the neck, it's just the neck coil. With the switch in the middle it's both coils, and with it towards the bridge, it's just the neck coil. Combine that with the PUP blend control and you have various combinations of the two PUPs and the two coils of the bridge PUP. The volume control is the volume control over the whole thing. Then there's the treble, middle, and bass which are all three boost/cut controls.

Sorry, I took that pic from the site where I bought the bass thinking it was mine or the same as mine. The guitar with me has the battery above the string ferrals.

Thanks everyone. I have a good idea of the P/U's and controls now.

Lakland LH3 Midrange Freq. selection question

The Lakland LH3 preamp has 4 midrange selection options:

275 Hz
600 Hz
900 Hz
1100 Hz

Which one of the 4 do you find most useful?
