Why not get one of Lindy's sets of killer passive pickups and ad the preamp of your choice.

http://www.fralinpickups.com/bass.asp

As far as I know, I've never seen him do active and he doesn't list active pickups.

I have a set which he tells me are wound to be Jazz 63's an they're great.

any suggestions on a pre amp....I bought an OLP bass and installed a Nordstrand MM 4.2 humbucker that everyone was raving about....I was very unimpressed with it...

Thanks!!!

I have a bass with a 2 band Aguilar OBP-1 (18v) on order currently. The OBP-3 is a popular one too...3 band instead of two.

I'm also tweaking to install an Audere in my PRS. Seems like just what I'm looking for.

You could also check out the J-Retro as a drop in for a jazz. Its highly thought of as well.

No offense, but don't waste your money hot-rodding a cheapo OLP bass. Don't get me wrong--those basses are good bang for the buck. Since you already have the Nordstand onboard, I'd recommend an outboard pre like the Aguilar DB924 or John East STMP-01. Then you won't have dumped money into a bass, and later have to just remove it anyway.

The Nordstrand was the only thing that I replaced in the OLP....I'm building a bass that has the P/J set up.....waiting for my neck to be completed from USA Custom..........I'll probably be selling the OLP ...thanks!
