Lindy Fralin j pickups 5 vs Aguilar ag 5j60 vs ag 5j70
I own a custom Greek Odyssey Lotus bass
which is great but I think the time to replace the pickups just came. When the luthier named Yannis Ioannidis constructed the bass, after a talk about the sound I wanted, suggested to put a pair of custom bartolini singles.
The bass sounds great but now I want something else, more aggressive and more lets say "vintage". So I am between those three pairs. I watched several videos about all those three sets and I should say they all sounded great, especially the fralins and the ag 60s.
Which one would you propose? Have any experience with them?
I read that the aguilar pickups (some users wrote) have a small output..Is it true?
Thank you! :help: :help: :help:
Both good, I'd say the aguilars are more dry and clean, the fralins have a butteryness but still an aggressive high mid and reduced high highs. My go-to Js are duncans, fralins, and hansons.
You are going to need to route that bass for pickup ears though :(
I think nordstrands are high quality, but not what i prefer. Thats what id say about the aguilars as well.
Bumping this one up for my own purposes. I'm on the verge of starting my next bass build project, and I'm thinking about some pickup options that include the Fralin 5 string J pickups as well as the Aguilar AG 5J-60 set. Also in the mix are the Lollar 5 string J pickups. Any feedback on these pickup sets would be most appreciated!
