Hello,
I have a schecter stiletto from a couple years back. I really like the pick up but I dislike the preamp. Its way too noisy, esp since I like mids and highs in my bass. I took a quick peek at bestbassgear.com, and typical preamps tend to cost around 150. T
wo questions.
Question first.
Do preamps for passive pick ups differ from pre amps for active pick ups?
Question second.
Has anyone come up with a reliable DIY solution? Me solder iron is me friend.
danke. |

Buy yourself a set of real EMG's! I did in my schecter and have never looked back. I strongly recommend the P5 pickup!

Schecters definitely sound great with two full EMG's and an 18V power supply.

Which is my Schecter Studio 5 that's been gutted and modded.
It's fantastic now. Couldn't be happier with it. |

I've recorded my bass with the original EMG pre, straight passive and with the G&B pre and I am _very_ happy with the G&B pre.
my bass only has four pots, so I set a blend setting and kept the blend pot in the back. that way i get three band + volume up front. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
