Looking for some pups with growl for Prog Metal

I am having a custom bass built and I want some decent pickups that will give me some good growl and help me cut through the mix in a prog metal band. Something "djenty" like Vildhjarta or Meshuggah that will allow me to play with the guitars but not be drowned out by them, if that makes sense.

I don't know tons about pickups so any info would be helpful.

There's a lot more to growl than just the pups, its really the whole bass. What are you building?
