Output gain does not equate to volume.

The loudest pickup is the one connected to the loudest amp.

Most active pickups/preamp type deals are pretty hot. Musicman pre/pups are way hotter than most. Overwound pups of any type have high output. EMG's are pretty hot. That's about all I know.

I know the SD Bass Lines pups are pretty hot too. If you're looking for a single coil pup but not necessarily in a jazz pup shape I know that Nordstrand Big Singles have tons of output, especially matched with an 18v preamp but they're in more of a soap bar shape than a jazz pup shape.

Seymour Duncan does make a Quarter Pound J pup, maybe you could try that?

+1

You could also try a Rio Grande Muy Grande. A little dark for my taste but defiantely the hottest J pickup I've used.

Sure we do! Any line that has nothing but Es, As Ds and Gs! (With a Michael Manring / Hipshot grandfathering clause for other notes)
