Marcus Miller Bass Question

How do i know if a MM bass is one of the old models where the batteries are always draining out, even with the bass unplugged?

Is there a way to know if the battery is always on?

Thanks.

No one?????

I know this was a problem on older MM Signature basses.
Any help is appreciated.

Sorry I can't help ya, bud--other than a bump to keep this at the top of the pile.

Sounds like pretty strange wiring, though. I've used active basses for decades, and every one was wired such that the guitar cable turned the battery on. IOW, they used a stereo 1/4" jack and inserting the cable caused the sleeve to complete the battery's circuit.

Just look at the output jack.

If there is a connection at the ring terminal to the battery's negative, the preamp only consumes current when a connector is inserted into the jack.
