I had a pj for a bit that i modded to have a volume, tone and three way switch. In theory you could do the same with some incredibly simple wiring.

I did exactly this with a Jazz bass that I owned. First, I wired the original J pickups through a 3-way switch, which worked very well for me at the time (I've since come to appreciate the nuances of blending the two volumes at different levels) and left the bridge volume pot to serve as the master volume.

Later, I routed out the body and installed a P pickup in place of the neck pickup. I liked that configuration, although I found that the bridge J pickup was now not very effective on its own, due to its lower output volume. So, i would largely just use the P soloed or the two pickups on together, which is a nice tone as well.

I currently own an Aerodyne P Bass which has a bridge J pickup, with two volume controls. I've been debating whether to do the 3-way switch on this one as well, still not sure if I would prefer it to having separate level controls...

EDIT: I did have a tone pot on each of these basses, though I'm pretty sure that would be the simplest thing to adjust in terms of what you're after, i.e. simply removing it from the signal path.

It's possible, but how will you select the pickups?
Did you want a 3 way switch?

Connect both pickups in parallel, and don't forget the bridge ground to the back of the pot.

Yes.

This is an older diagram, or I would have made it more detailed for this application.

Hey Line6 I got a weird one for ya.
I have a standard '62 style P with '62 style pickups that have the ground plate attached.
Ok here is the absolutely strangest thing in the World:
When I rub my index finger of my right hand along the pickguard right below the pickups (the G string side) I get all types of static. It drives me insane. I am not touching anything metal, just the pickguard in that area.
Now the weirder thing is: if I use any other finger on my right hand = nothing. Only my index finger does this.
I am thinking aliens must have implanted something right about now...
The pickguard has copper shielding on the back, and I did not ground it, it is only shielding.
Today I just took it all apart, checked for continuity in the pickup leads, cleaned the control cavities out, put heatshrink on the pickup leads.
Did I say it was weird?

Damndest thing, I really do not expect a reasonable answer, the mere fact that it only happens with the index finger is already enough to freak me out, LOL!
Keep on ROCKIN'!!!

Ground the shielding on the pickguard.

Is the skin on your index finger any different than the skin on the rest of your fingers?

I tried that, it was grounded. I actually took all of the copper shielding out thinking it may have been that, but it wasn't.
I really do not get it, I really really do not.
But I can live with it. It's just w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-weird!
Maybe I am just weird...?
Well yeah, I am definitely weird.

Sorry I did not answer your question.
No, maybe a bit drier (spelling?). Definitely a bit drier.
It does not make any sense.

The two coils of the P should be in series. It's not easy to change this, anyway, as the pickup should already be wired for series operation.
