Matching a J Pup to a SD Quarter Pounder

I'm planning on taking my Squier VM P and adding a J-bass pickup to go with my SD Quarter Pounder.

I play mostly hard rock/metal, so what would be a pick?

I thought at first to get the SJB-3 pickup, but haven't heard good things about it...

I'd look at the Basslines J pickups that are stacked humbuckers. That way you won't get noise when you dial in the J pickup as you will if you use a single coil J pickup.
