Hi,

are MEC pickups any good? I know pretty much all Warwicks have them, but I went on their website, and nothing . I'll probably change them out, but just want ur opinion. (getting a Warwick Corvette Standard) Replacing the preamp with an OBP-3, too.

Thx

Koi

I'm just taking a guess, but if Warwick is using them, and many bass players enjoy Warwicks, they must sound good, hm? Why not just listen to some sound clips of a corvette standard? There are plenty of them on youtube.

For all the talk about people removing them and replacing them with X because MECs suck they're not that common to find for sale. I'd love a pair of short Js for my Squier.

Personally, I've never cared for them. I've owned 2 Warwick Fortresses (still own one) and had no use for the MECs. They just don't have "my" tone, nor do they possess the degree of output I prefer.

On my current Fortress, I have Bartolini pickups and pre and they work perfectly for me. But then, I'm a Bart fan.

I love em. My fretted LX5 growls and and is balanced across the strings and my fretless is amazing. Both equipped with JJs and used with the EQ set flat.
