Is it possible to make a more aggressive sounding pick up more mellow without replacing the actual pickups?

Have tried Jamerson flats and using the EQ on my SVT head (I never use it otherwise) and I am still not happy with them. The attack is too harsh and because it is a fiver, i tend to play closer to the bridge than normal and that doesn't help the tone either.

good luck

Back 'em down and then volume compensate at the amp. Big change. As soon as you reach the 'suddenly loud' portion of the volume controls, the tone gets a lot more aggressive. Nature of the beast, and quite useful once you get the hang of it.
