MIA Jazz...

I got my first MIA Jazz. It's the 2011 FSR Hand Rubbed stain ash one... Can anyone tell me about the pickups? They are passive. That I know. Are all Fender J pups the same? Would there be a significant difference if I changed them to Quarter Pounders? If so, how?

I believe quarter pounds are over wound, meaning you'll get more bass/treble out of your pickup. I think American pups are hand wound, as opposed to Mexican ones which are machine wound, although i'm not 100% on that.

you got a cool one!

the pickups are regular passive machine-wound pickups; they're fine, but it might be worth exploring some upgrade ideas.

QPs would be very different, louder and grindier.
