Midi bass pickup GK-3B

Sign in to disble this ad
I was thinking of picking one of these up, (Found one for 150$), but when looking more closely at it, I noticed that it doesn't seem to really work as a midi pickup or even as a regular pickup, but as a proprietary signal processor, AKA, it ONLY works to send a signal to a gk synthesizer. Would I be wrong in assuming this?

What I want is basically an external pickup with a second output so I can have 2 non proprietary 1/4" outputs.

You are correct about the Roland MIDI pickups. They delevop a signal that makes sense to the synth equipment, but it's not an audio signal in the sense you want.

They aren't a "signal processor". They are not a "midi pickup" - they are 6 separate magnetic pickups in a single case - HEXAphonic. They put out 6 audio signals, running down their own wire sets. No synth can make use of them since they don't put out a midi stream - unless plugged into a 13-pin compatible pitch-to-midi convertor. Then the pitch-to-midi convertor sends a midi stream via MIDI cable to whatever synth/sampler.
