Might be building a bass soon, need pickup suggestions

Hey guys, I've had an unfinished Carvin 4-string neck-though blank sitting around for several years and it might actually get turned into a bass this winter. I'd like it to sound different from what I already have in my arsenal, which is two MIM Standard Jazz Basses (one fretless) and a P-Bass with a fretless Jazz neck on it + a Musicman-style humbucker in place of the original split coil.

I'm considering just putting a decent P-bass pickup in it to keep it simple (and because I don't have a normal P-bass tone), but I was toying with the idea of dropping in a Gibson-style humbucker (like in the EB-0) but put it in the middle position where the pickup normally would be on a P-bass (if string spacing allows). I also considered installing a single stacked humbucker Jazz bass pickup, but I kind of want use a large pickup so it acts kind of like a finger ramp (I made one for my fretted jazz bass and like it a lot).

I'm kind of going for a more "vintage" sound with this and probably will string it up with flats, playing it finger style, plus I am not looking to spend a whole lot on the pickup (probably not more than $60, or somewhere in that vicinity). Suggestions? Thanks!

It's almost twice your budget, but Lollar Ps are wound to emulate a 60s vintage tone. There are plenty of split coils in your price range, but these are definitely worth the extra scratch.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I recall one of my guitar instructors was a big proponent of Lollars for his Teles, but I didn't know they did bass pickups, too. One of the pickups I was considering is the Gotoh humbucker on the far left:

Has anyone tried one of those?

Remember that a good part of the classic Precision tone comes from that bolt on neck. A P plus EB pickup combo would make for a nice fat sound.
