MIJ P bass replacement P bass pickup recommendations

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a MIJ mid 80's P bass with a jazz bass pickup, I am looking to get a new p bass pickup installed. I added a Seymour Duncan Antiquity II jazz pickup i the back which sounds great. The P bass pickup is stock and has a great thump to it but it is not really clear sounding. I was looking for a vintage sound with more clarity to it . I was wondering thinking about the Seymour Duncan Antiquity II pickup, the Fralin P bass pickup and the Aero p bass pickup ( Which is conviently located a couple miles away from my house!). I have heard a lot about the Fralins but not much about the Aero or Antiquity. I like a variety of music from heavy metal to trip hop.Any feedback? Or recommendations?

I just put together a P Bass with a SD antiquity II and i really like it!
Its got a great low end, more than the Fralin i think, its really gritty/ grindy to...
Its really thick and meaty with the tone rolled off and has good high end with the tone open without being to clangy.

Now i dont know how it compares to the other ones you mentioned. I went with the SD mainly because it had a thicker low end and was visually more vintage correct, came with the grounding plate etc..
